John Kwesi Andorful was born to Kow Andoh and Esi Kyekyebi on June 6th 1947, Senya Beraku in the Central Region of Ghana. He was the last of 6 children and completed Form-Four at Local Council School, Senya Beraku in 1958. He was then taken to Accra by his uncle, the late Mr. Hazel, with whom he worked as an apprentice and later became a Professional welder.
With dedication, he became a master of his craft, had his own shop and apprentices, from which some of Lawrence’s boon companions credited him with the name “Exhibit” of Pimp My Ride fame. He graced his ancestral lineage with Alice Kitoe, with whom they begat Francis and Bernice Andorful. Unfortunately, Madame Kitoe laid down her life, then after he had a unison with Mary Yawson, with whom they begat Richard Andorful, Ruth Andorful, Mavis Andorful, Stephen Andorful, Lawrence Andorful, and Rev. Zerobabel Kwabena Andoh, with the latter being under his custodian before his departure for the city of Accra.
He traveled to Nigeria in the 80’s and worked there for a while, after which he came back to Ghana to continue with life. Back home, he became a professional driver, and used to drive commercial coaches in Ghana, popularly called ‘trotro’. After many years of working as a driver, he managed to secure a shop in Awoshie and went back to his craftmanship welding work. He did not allow old age to keep him inactive, and was always seen moving and keeping himself occupied with work, no matter how small it was.
Though imperfect just like any of us here today, he kept his nose to the grindstone. Even when nearing his grand old age, he’d take his 40L welding gas cylinder and get to work from time to time. Mr. John Kwesi Andorful led a life of goodwill and was admired mostly for his hard work and quiet yet exuberant and cheerful nature.
On May 5th, 2022, he suffered from a second-stage stroke, which lasted for a month and a week. After bathling with the stroke, he was finally called by his maker, and breathed his last on June 6th, 2022, after his first review at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. He is survived by a wife, 8 children, 23 grand-children, and a great-grand child.

"“I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from wherence cometh my help. My help cometh from teh Lord, which made heaven and earth”.
(Psalm 121:1-2)
I believe there is hope and love in abundance for all, Remember, John Kwesi Andorful this way.
In his loving memory, I do my heart for the joy, peace, and love he gave to us in the good old days and the fighting spirit in his latter days. The songs that echo in our hearts, The swirling beam of light that kept us together and the beautiful smiling gestures you made enthralled many faces. This light encourages us to believe in the certainty of an afterlife reunion. Savour and remember John for the wonderful and laughable conversations and moments that thrilled and milled us into the following day. To a delightful memory and a peaceful transition."

"I know how broken your hearts are, whether you weep or not, know that i am in a place of tranquility and i am happy.
Our hearts are broken by his departure, yet our love for him lives on forever with his memory. Although we may not witness him by our side anymore, we know that in memory he is with us until the renunciation of our souls. From childhood to adulthood, he welcomed us in his embrace, and though we were at fault on many occasions, it's such admiration that bodes good tidings and hope for tomorrow. From the tears we shed, we rise to the occasion where bidding him goodbye is the norm in this gathering of love and committal; a goodbye that is difficult to admit. We are encouraged by his determination in life and his fighting spirit during his days at the hospital. He was a protector, comforter, unifier, determiner, and a survivor...a survivor because he lives on. But, in all fairness, we entreat you to reminisce on what kindled light in your hearts about Ato papa; yes, that moment lingering in your mind's eye at this very moment. We look forward to the beauty of the unknown and the reunification of our souls in the end. Long live John Kwesi Andorful. To your memory, Our fortitude and bliss."

"Today we celebrate the life of the hero of our family, our grandfather; John Kwesi Andorful. Grandpa as we affectionately called him, was a real father, friend and our entertainer anytime we visited for holidays or came for the weekend. He showed us so much care and love. He was humble and generous. Above all, he had time for us; playing with us, telling us stories just to make us happy. We are lucky to be part of your life on earth. We thank God for giving you to us. You will forever stay in our hearts. Your death and departure is so sudden that we are yet to understand that you have truly gone. A big vacuum has indeed been left by your departure, and that can only be filled by the love and the care of God Almighty. We love and thank you so much. Grandpa damirifa due! Grandpa nante yie! Grandpa da yie! Nyame mfa wonko du fie dwodwo !"

"“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted. (Ecclesiatstics 31:1-2)
On this solemn occasion, it is with deep sorrow, pain and grief that we pay this tribute in memory of our beloved father-in-law, John Kwesi Andorful. It is hard to see you go, but mere mortals as we are, we have no control of this life. Daddy as we all called him, was kind, compassionate, patient, humble and very supportive. Words alone cannot express our deep appreciation for the enormous efforts and sacrifices he made for us. Ever since we became family through marriage, you never ceased to assist us. You did not mind to baby-sit any of your grand-children to enable us attend to work or other activities, and will usually carry them on your chest, or take them on a walk regardless the time of day, just to put them to sleep, or let them stop crying. Though you were our in-law, you always related to us just as you did with your children. Daddy, we thank God for blessing us with a wonderful in-law like you. You were truly an inspiration to us all. Continue to rest in peace. We love you and know you are in a better place. Daddy, Rest in Perfect Peace!"
